When we talk about cooperative care, we mean any behaviour in which animals actively participate in their own care. This can include simple actions, such as moving between areas or approaching a trainer on cue, as well as more complex procedures like blood sampling or body measurements.
Also known as husbandry training, cooperative care encompasses how we work with animals in their everyday management. In this workshop, you will explore a holistic approach to cooperative care and learn how to teach essential behaviours that enable effective assessment of health and wellbeing.
We will examine how to approach common challenges, identify the underlying causes, and develop practical solutions. You’ll also receive guidance on where and how to begin training cooperative care behaviours, including the foundational skills required and the techniques used to achieve lasting success.
