When discussing cooperative care, we are referring to any behaviour that involves animals participating in their own care, whether it’s moving from one area to another, approaching the trainer when asked, or more challenging tasks like blood samples or body measurements.
In essence, this concept is also known as husbandry training, it encompasses the ways in which we work with our animals in their daily management. In this workshop, you will gain insights into a holistic approach to cooperative care and how to teach crucial behaviours that allow us to assess the animals’ health and wellbeing.
We will delve into understanding how to approach challenges and identify the core issues behind these challenges. We will then guide you on how and where to begin when training animals in cooperative care behaviours. We will cover the foundational aspects required and the techniques we use to achieve our goals.
